Nanny's 'about me...': Hi! My name is Andraea Murrietta and I’m 24 years old, Married,with no children of my own. I was born in my home state of West Virginia.
At age 9, my mother married my step-father, Richard Beck. I became, not only the oldest of 3 brothers, but the eldest of 2 step-sisters and one step-brother, making me the oldest of 7 children. My little sister (half-sister), Julie, was born July 11th, 1998, from the marriage of my Father, Ralph Powell to my step mother, Gloria Gomez Powell, therefore, making me the oldest of 8 children. Not only have I grown up with such a large family, but at age 11 I baby-sat, not only my 7 siblings, but other children in the community that we lived in called West Union, which is located in my home state of West Virginia.
At age 15, because of the large number of children I had previously, and was starting to care for more, I decided to get a certificate for early Childhood Development through CPS in West Virginia. I had to take 1 class a week for 5 weeks. However, my certificate got lost in a move and has expired anyways. But I still remember how to teach children to learn and grow and to be productive citizens as well as the future generation of our country. I can be tested on this if needed. Also, at age 15, I became a life Guard in Doddridge County; the county where West Union is located. I got certified in CPR and such things from that job, as well as more CPR and First Aid training when I was in the Air Force.

At age 17, (year 2003) my mother, my little brother, and I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. In October of 2003, I got a job working at Chuck. E. Cheese. I was a little timid at first because caring for a large number of children made me want to have a break in that department. However, after 3 weeks of working at Chuck E. Cheese, my love of caring for kids came back and I love to baby-sit kids whenever the opportunity comes up.
In November of 2006, I became a nanny for a 1 1/2 little girl named Mary-Ann. When I first started, she did not know how to feed herself and her only words were “mama” and “baba” (for bottle). With the help of my husband, I taught her how to feed herself, how to speak more than 2 words, potty trained, and how to be as self-sufficient as possible. Now, after me being her nanny from that time up until May of 2007, she still continues to be as self-sufficient as she was taught. She is only one example of the skills that I still know from past experiences.

Discipline: My rule for discipline is TIME OUT. My belief is only 1 minute of time out per age year. So, if a child is 4, then 4 minutes of time out. I also follow Arizona rules and guidelines, unless the parent of the child says other wise. However, if the parent’s rule of disciplining is near beating a child, not only will I NOT discipline the parent’s way, I will make sure that right authorities are called if the case could be, or near (considered), child abuse. I do not, and will not ever, tolerate or discipline a child in the category of child abuse, whether it be physical or, mental, or verbal, or otherwise. Children deserve to be in an environment where they know is not only safe, but receiving the right kind of child care that they deserve. I provide a safe, clean, and fun environment where a child can learn and grow, such as stated in my objective.

My charge Rate: My charge rate is $200-$300 per week depending on location and how many hours per day that I'm sitting, or $7.00 an hour.
